Preparing Your Heart

Hey guys this is the reading list to prepare for Sunday. We would look at the first part of the Gentile Trial.

Matt. 26:2-5, 57-68 Religious Leaders

Matt. 27:1-2, 11-31 Pilate

Mark 14:1-2, 53-65 Religious Leaders

Mark 15:1-20 Pilate

Luke 22:1-2, 63-71 Religious Leaders

Luke 23:1-5, Luke 23:13-25 Pilate

Luke 23:6-12  )Herod

John 18:12-14, 19-24 Religious Leaders

John 18:28-40, John 19:1-16 Pilate

3 main ideas are,

1-What accusations do you make against this man?

2-Why did Jesus not respond to the charges made against Him?

3-Are You a King?

We will look 👀 at how each Gospel narrates these events.

We will also consider the extra details given to us by Luke and John.

We will not go into the Barabbas details in this first part, but we will in the 2nd part of our discussion.

As you read through these scriptures, recognize that the Jewish legal system and the Gentile legal system were different. Their laws and perspective on what would condemn a person to death were derived by different variables. In the trials of Jesus, we see two varying approaches to derive a death sentence. How are the accusations different in each trial? What are they?
